Members and Guest Meeting 19th March 2012

One of the most well attended meetings of the year to date with 32 attendees was kicked off by our chairman of the month Daniel McHardy. We had a different room and layout which did make the meeting feel like Daniel’s wedding reception but we managed!

We followed our usual Agenda for the meeting, so began with a very brief round of introductions. This is always a good way to start, especially with such a big group, as you can pick out those keywords that people use to describe themselves and what they do and make a bee line for them during the actual networking session or after the meeting as necessary.

Our News section came next;

Greg informed us that a direct link has been found between socially disruptive narcissists and Facebook. Much of Dubai then!
Greg also brought up an article about Daredevil CEO’s putting Companies at risk? The discussion is ongoing.
Jennifer shared her experiences from The BrandMaker Workshop on March 10th, there is another on March 31st, only AED 1, 000 including the course, photography and optimizing your business.
Livia has a Dibba/Musandam Trip with yoga, fishing and other activities on March 31st. Don’t forget your passports and suncream!
Oskar informed us about an amateur ski competition taking place on March 23rd in Ski Dubai from 3pm, 20 spots left. After-party at Apres
Ishta told us about the Sunstroke Lounge Event on April 13th, Chill by the pool, House DJ’s.
Shayma reminded us that the Design Days Expo is taking place this week
Also Art Dubai is taking place from Weds – Saturday.

At this meeting, one of our members, David Cook provided the presentation element and presented his company UAE Compare. A great insight provided into their core focus which is fitting out offices and commercial properties, from interior design to IT infrastructure. What sets UAE Compare apart though is that whilst this is their core focus, they have also gone through the process of evaluating a number of service providers in the region. The reason behind this is the frankly appalling service we receive from some companies in the region. Those that fall under the UAE Compare banner have been vetted and passed a rigourous qualification process, so you can be assured of a superior level of service when it comes to contact, communication and of course delivery. Check them out at www.uae-compare.com

The larger group meant our agenda was truncated a little, moving on from the presentation we had a referral request session to end the meeting. After the ‘official’ end of the meeting, many participants stayed to further establish potential ways of helping each other in their businesses.
